The business originally started working on the "pontoon" renting a small stand and have gradually progressed until 7 years ago we took the initiative and invested in an new building which had to be changed into a state of the art fish processing factory, to secure the future of not only our family business but also the jobs of our employees and customers. 

Ray Gooch Fish Merchants are a family run business founded in 1984 by Ray and Chris with Carol and Andy joining the firm some years later. 

We possess over fifty years experience in the fish industry and over this time have witnessed many changes. The business is still evolving to this day.

Sustainable fisheries and responsible fishing are of great importance to us, we are a founder member of Skates and Rays Producers Association (SRPA) which is a group of people from all different aspects of the industry, that has formed with the aim of building confidence between fishermen and retailers to ensure a sustainable future for everyone.

Ray Gooch originally specialised in Skate and Ray wings serving a whole variety of customers all over the country from single shops to wholesalers.

Over the past few years we have diversified due to requests from our customers, whilst still selling a full range of fresh and frozen Ray Wings we now also sell dogfish, cod fillets, haddock fillets, halibuts, lemon soles, smoked haddock and many others.

We always pride ourselves in selecting the very best quality for our customers needs, bought fresh daily from Grimsby Fish Market and imported from many different ports around Europe. We also buy direct from Iceland and Norway.
 
The fish is processed on site to ensure good cool chain management then boxed and iced and sent on refrigerated next day transport to our customers.

We offer full product traceability and labelling and have an implemented HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) plan to ensure we meet and exceed food safety and assurance standards.
